**LIVE FROM THE STREET**
Join Tour Guide Extraordinaire Elizabeth Namack for a virtual presentation via Zoom. Our focus will be on the magnificent Cathedral in Florence.

As an added bonus, a Duomo expert and fellow Florentine will join us on a LIVE walk around this grandiose monument which includes the lovely Baptistry, the lofty Belltower and the lengthy Cathedral.

You may have heard of a Papal Bull but have you heard about Florence’s Duomo Bovine? Do you know which technology was developed for the building of the Cathedral that is still in use today?

On this walk and talk, we’ll look at the extraordinary history of the city’s most iconic monuments and the history and stories behind the buildings that range from fascinating to truly bizarre.

We start at the Baptistery bearing Lorenzo Ghiberti’s gilt bronze Baptistery Doors that tell stories from the Old and New Testament, fondly known as “The Gates of Paradise”.

Next, we will take a closer look at the Belltower, designed in the 14th century by Giotto with narrative panels that explain how to get to heaven. We’ll also find out about the other unrecognized names that went into constructing the belfry.

Finally, we will admire the Cathedral, walking around the exterior to see the work of master craftsman throughout the centuries and crowned in the 15th century by Brunelleschi’s most famous Dome.

Given that entry is not currently permitted, we will also take a virtual peek inside to look at images of the artistic treasures that were once inside and are now safeguarded in museums.

This event is free of charge, however donations are happily accepted and encouraged.

The virtual presentation will last about 1 hour, with time at the end for questions and answers.

We need a little entertainment and distraction in the world these days! So, I look forward to seeing you and discussing Renaissance art and architecture.
